Sand Valley Ranch offers beginner to advanced Natural Horsemanship Western riding lessons for children and adults in Chaswood, Nova Scotia, serving riders from HRM, Halifax, Truro, and surrounding areas.

Our riding lessons are customized to each individual rider, focusing on confidence building, correcting rider imbalances, improving posture and balance, and developing clear, light communication with the horse. Instruction emphasizes proper rider position and correct horse movement, using dressage fundamentals adapted to Western riding to create softness, rhythm, and consistency.

We offer both private riding lessons and small group riding lessons, allowing riders to choose personalized one-on-one instruction or a supportive group learning environment. Lessons can also include Western show preparation, including pattern work, rail classes, and in-hand training, helping riders and horses prepare correctly and confidently for competition.

Each one-hour lesson includes hands-on learning such as grooming and tacking, safe horse handling and behavior, groundwork (including lunging and driving), riding, liberty work, and basic stable management. This well-rounded approach builds confident, capable riders both on the ground and in the saddle.
